Disclosure: disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
I have a little secret to tell. I don’t rinse my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. Ever. I also don’t have any rhyme or reason to the way I load the dishwasher. I pretty much just shove things in wherever they fit and hope for the best. This bad habit of mine stems from finding shortcuts to make my chore list go just a bit faster. There is 7 of us in my family and there seems to be a never ending pile of dishes in the sink – waiting to be washed. Rinsing just seems like an extra step; one I’m not interested in doing. My best friend Lydia was horrified when she found this out about me. Hopefully, there is someone out there that can relate?
Typically, I’d purchase whatever dishwashing detergent was on sale. I never really had a regular brand and they all did an OK job. The biggest problems I had when it came to the dishes being clean was food stuck to the pots and pans and my glasses never seemed very clear. I’m sure all of us have experienced cloudy glasses before. They might be clean but they don’t look like they are. I’d never give a cloudy glass to company because I don’t even like drinking out of them myself! It always annoys me (and slows down my chore doing) when I have to run the same dishes through the dishwasher twice. It’s a waste all around: time, detergent, water and electricity.
Recently, I was sent a package of Cascade Platinum dishwashing detergents pacs to review. I’ve used pacs before and love their extreme convenience. It’s so much easier to just pop one of the pacs into the detergent compartment and press the “wash” button. Cascade Platinum is the most powerful dishwashing formula from Cascade that not only gets your dishes sparkling, it also works to keep the inside of your dishwasher looking its best. Detergents I’ve used in the past have done an OK job keeping my dishes clean but I always thought my dishwasher needed a good cleaning.
My first several uses of Cascade Platinum left me immeasurably impressed. It didn’t seem to matter that I didn’t rinse my dishes, they all came out sparkling clean – even the pots and pans. My glasses were free of cloudiness and everything seemed beautifully clean. My glasses looked as good as the day I bought them! Although I didn’t notice a difference in the interior of my dishwasher at first, I definitely noticed a difference after the 3rd load. There was a yellow (mustard, I think) stain on the inside of the door that had been there for months. After using Cascade Platinum, its almost non-existent. I’m really excited to continue using this product because it works well with my dishwashing routine. I don’t rinse and Cascade Platinum doesn’t care if I do or not, its just not necessary with the strength of its cleaning power.
One of the times I most appreciate a sparkling dish is when I’m doing a food related post on my blog. Nothing looks appealing when its on a cloudy, greasy or food caked-on plate. Cascade has recently partnered with Gail Simmons, the editor of Food+Wine magazine as they both believe that presentation is as important as the food/beverage being served. If you’ve ever received flatware with spots or a dingy looking dish, you understand! Gail Simmons points out that easy recipes can become gourmet presentations by drizzling bright sauces on sparkling white plates or laying desserts in crystal clear glassware. Quite frequently I post pictures of my food and beverages on Instagram. I just love to share what I’m eating with my followers. I recently took a picture of a glass of wine I was enjoying and the crystal clear glass enhanced the appearance of both wine and atmosphere.

Had I seen Cascade Platinum in the store I may or may not have purchased it. I can be iffy about trying new things. After using this product for a full week now I can say that I will definitely purchase this product in the future. It has saved me precious time, as I’m no longer re-washing dishes and has also kept me from having to scrub the inside of my dishwasher down. Cascade Platinum has Dawn grease fighting power, which has left all my dishes grease free as well. Even though the amount of used dishes hasn’t decreased, the amount of dishwashing loads I’ve run has! Cascade© Platinum 14 ct costs about $4.29, and is worth every penny!
