It seems that each time I start up a new weight loss program I always go through what I call the “last hurrah”. Basically, it’s where I eat all the foods I shouldn’t be eating once the program starts. Really, it makes no sense, and I know this. However, I found myself overindulging this weekend because of my upcoming Nutrisystem journey.
Last week I placed my first Nutrisystem food order. It was sort of fun. From their food you get to choose breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack for each day you’ll be on the program. You mix in some items that you purchase at the grocery store, which I’ll tell you more about when I learned more about what this entails.
The Nutrisystem menu consists of pantry foods and what they call their fresh frozen line. I’ve never had Nutrisystem food before so I’m not sure what I’ll like best. I ordered a variety of things for starters, relying on the community ratings to make my choices. My food is set to arrive sometime this week and I intend to give 100% effort in my weight loss program; I so want to be successful!
So, what’s with this last hurrah business? If I knew I was going to vacuum tomorrow I wouldn’t throw down a pile of dirt today, but that’s the equivalent of what I’m doing to my body. I realize I do this for a number of reasons:
- Waste: I hate the thought of just throwing food in the trash. It seems like such a waste of money and resources. However, a while back I read an interesting article written by a woman trying to lose weight and she described this type of behavior as using her body as the trashcan. Her words really hit home with me. The junk food in my house belongs in the trash not in my body.
- Impending Deprivation: I’ve never done Nutrisystem before and I don’t know anyone who has, making me unsure if I’ll feel deprived while on this diet. I’m venturing into the unknown and am a little nervous. On the good side, I did order some great looking snacks that seemed like they’d be fulfilling, even on those days when I must have a sweet.
- Habit: Having terrible eating habits is a bad habit in its also one that’s hard to break.
So after weekend of failure, I’ve decided to stop the craziness right now. The remaining junk food I have will be tossed out, into the trash. The hardest thing to go will be my white chocolate chips – I love those things! However, I think that feeling better and looking better will amount to much more enjoyment than those white chocolate chips.
I am so excited to start my Nutrisystem program! There so many success stories out there that I’ve been reading up on and I want to be one of them. Please follow along as I transform my body and life.
